Steve Seargeant begins his 18th season as an assistant coach to Eric Pogue. He has served his first 12 years as the top assistant coach and moved to the second assistant coach position for the 2002 season. Seargeant, who was Parsons' assistant in 1984, began his second stint at Oakland University in 1992.

The Oakland soccer program has seen great success in Seargeant's 17 seasons making seven NCAA Tournament appearances. Oakland has finished as high as second in the nation under the assistance of Seargeant.

In addition to his duties with the Golden Grizzlies varsity soccer program, Seargeant serves as head coach as the Vardar Youth soccer program since 2001. Seargeant, a native of England, played soccer professionally for 16 years. He has been a camp coach and clinician since retiring from the professional ranks in 1982. A holder of a United States Soccer Federation "D" License, his other coaching stints include the Detroit Sport Club, Michigan Selects and the North Metro Rangers club program.

As a youth, Seargeant had the honor of playing in historic Wembley National Stadium for England's national under 16 team. In the summer of 1994, Seargeant served as a correspondent for USA Today, covering the World Cup games held in the Pontiac Silverdome.
